Our summer School at Kashiwanoha Campus successfully concluded, providing students with an engaging and enjoyable learning experience. centered around the theme Expo 2025 , the program featured a variety of international activities and offered students valuable new experiences. teachers enhanced the program by designing games and activities that reflected their own countries or cultures with they are most familiar , further enriching the international theme.
Japan week
The first week highlighted Japanese culture, where children engaged in activities such as watermelon splitting, practicing the Obon dance , creating lantern and fan crafts, making cotton candy , experiencing the art of indigo dyeing.
Watermelon splitting is a traditional game quite famous in Japan, that they try to split the watermelon with a stick while blindfolding. The above pictures show how the children had fun and they work together till the end to break up the watermelon.
Philippine Day
The focus shifted to Philippines, where children enjoyed designing a vehicle craft unique to Philippines called “Jeepney”
USA day
Students explored American culture by participating in Basketball games, and making classic American Taco craft.
Sri Lankan day
The children decorated an elephant craft, displaying the cultural and traditional event taken place in Sri Lanka.
Arabian Day
The students had fun doing two games based on the theme Arabian Knights which were so much fun.
Movie and Popcorn day
The children had to have a ticket to enter the movie hall and to get a cup of popcorns . That made the feeling that they are in a real theater.
The program concluded with the Bonodori Folk dance performed by the children and the teachers being around the beautiful Omikoshi ( miniature version of a shrine.)
Teachers from diverse backgrounds greatly contributed to the program by designing games and activities inspired by their own countries and cultures, making Expo 2025 theme both meaningful and memorable. This year’s Summer School provided not only fun but also invaluable international experience for all the participants.
