Bugs! Plants! Birds! So many things to discover in the spring!
April has been a lovely month to get outside and use nature to help the preschool class learn new vocabulary, practice math and play together.
The preschool class is full of energetic and curious children and teaching them using a variety of methods has been very effective. We have spent time both indoor and outdoor learning new vocabulary, math, science and art.
Here are some photos of a scavenger hunt we did with our class, including Yukiyo sense of course!
Prior to heading out on the adventure, we went over the vocabulary words of the items we were going to try to find. We put the class in two teams and they worked really well together in looking for and finding the items on the list.
During the nature search, the kids were encouraged to speak in English using sentences such as
“Look, I found a …” or “I see a …” enforcing new vocabulary in a real life situation.
Once we retured to class, we went over the items they found. Both teams found the items on the list (except a bee, which was maybe a good thing…)
We were very lucky to find a ladybug on our walk home.
It is your turn! Can you find the ladybug?
It has been a great start to the year and I am excited for new adventures to be had!
